The Strategist role is crucial in the building and development of our business. Founded in 2009, ACT is now rapidly expanding, which translates into a dynamic and challenging environment to work in. We are at the forefront of market changes and through our traders' international networks we have access to a world of knowledge, which you will be part of too. Together with us you will have the chance to help shape the industry and find new business opportunities.Your job will be about understanding a complex and dynamic market place where changing legislation, product availability, and client requirements add up to opportunities for developing new market products. You get to do it all, from analyzing new opportunities, to having contact with relevant authorities and, if needed, client development.  Solid communication skills and a strong focus capacity will be your best assets to create and develop new market opportunities with our trading teams.


What you'll do:

  • Undertake market research and analyses and bring your expertise to the traders;
  • Lead components of project delivery, under guidance from management & traders;
  • Liaise with the traders to ensure and maintain current knowledge of major drivers and trends across commodity markets;
  • Gather (bio)fuels market data and policy information to identify industry trends and develop strategic insights;
  • Help to identify new sources of business to develop new trading desks or new ways of trading products;
  • Attend conferences and exhibitions to keep on track with the latest relevant policy developments.


Who you are:

  • 3-4 years' experience in the (bio)fuels industry in a similar role; 
  • Masters graduate of Environmental Management, Energy engineering or another relevant study with a focus on energy & petroleum products, environment or sustainability topics;
  • An affinity for the (bio)fuels market and knowledge of practices and standards;
  • Intellectually curious and able to demonstrate structured problem solving and analytical skills;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English;
  • Aptitude for taking initiative, a commercial and creative mind with an entrepreneurial attitude;
  • Motivated and pragmatic individual who goes off the beaten path.
